Writing has become a means of documenting these many wonderful adventures and exploring the motivation, purpose, and expectations behind them. Climbing expeditions offer more than just the experience itself; they provide a lens to gain a deeper understanding of our values, character, and ambitions. They are also immensely enjoyable. For after all, life is about having a lot of fun.
I am interested in flow states, Buddhist philosophy, human performance factors, and positive psychology. These concepts may provide a framework for understanding the why and the how of climbing big mountains in remote and little-explored corners of the world. Drawing on these ideas has shaped my approach towards seeking greater fulfilment in these wild places, and their exploration has a great application to how we live our lives more broadly.
I hope you enjoy the stories I have shared and that you might find something of value in them. Whether entertaining, insightful, or inspiring, I wish they bring you in their reading the same joy they have brought me in their creation.
